December 15th 2015 marked 7 years, 3 months, 2 weeks and 5 days waiting to meet our adopted daughter. We began the process of adoption paperwork and homestudy meetings in August of 2008. We felt God leading us to adopt a little girl from India after we lived there early in our marriage. Two biological sons, moves across several states, and many hang-ups in the adoption process later- and we finally went back to India to get our little girl!
We have been home now for about a month and things are going really well. Mercy was diagnosed as failure to thrive in India. She has had a series of medical exams and tests and we are learning how to best care for and get to know our new daughter. She seems to be adjusting smoothly into our family and she is quickly picking up English. We are praying for growth and development as well as bonding and attachment. She has a delightful temperament and loves to laugh. She has her big brothers wrapped around her little finger already! She is truly a joy.
We are so grateful for Christian Orphan Fund and the grant that we received. It was awarded at the perfect time in our process, and we are so thankful! Adoption can be so overwhelmingly expensive but she is overwhelmingly worth it!
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. -Proverbs 13:12
