Our amazing little boys, our SONS, are home from Bulgaria! We flew home on Julian’s 7th birthday, and the boys have done so well settling into life in a family. We are all so happy and extremely relieved that they’re finally home.\n

\nWe’re more grateful than I can ever express to everyone at Christian Orphan Fund. We faced many challenges during our adoption, both financial, medical, spiritual, and more. It was a long process and was hard even up until the end with a very difficult pickup trip. Satan made it clear that he didn’t want our boys to come home, but God made it so much clearer that He DID, that adoption is his plan for every orphan, and that if we would say yes He would move every mountain standing in our way. That truth has sustained us from the beginning of this journey. The adoption grant that was given to our family helped to meet a very big need in a very real way. Not only did it help us cover our adoption expenses, but also encouraged us by seeing firsthand that God was placing people and organizations in our path to help this adoption come to fruition.\n

\nOur boys were not in good health when we picked them up, especially 7 year old Julian who was very malnourished and just 19 pounds. He has experienced physical abuse and neglect, and he went through withdrawals from the sedatives the orphanage had him on while we were in country. 2-year old Casper was loved and fed well in his small orphanage, but also has many medical issues that have never been addressed. Both boys have a lot of anxiety because of all they’ve gone through. They are so incredibly brave and have faced more in their little lives than I can really grasp. It’s so nice to know that their complex needs are going to be seen to by great specialists now while their hearts are being cherished and protected now by a family who is head over heels for them.\n

\nWe welcome continued prayers for our family! Our oldest son, Isaac (also home thanks to a Christian Orphan Fund grant!) is recovering from a complete spinal fusion. Between his hospital stay and lengthy recovery, then me being in Bulgaria for 2 weeks, and now facing upcoming hospitalizations with Julian and Caspar, it’s been a lot of adjustment for our other children. They are doing great, but we’re praying for their emotional needs as well as for all the many medical needs that Isaac, Julian, and Caspar have. We also are praying that a way will be made for us to find an accessible vehicle for our large family. We now have 2 wheelchair users (1 who is quite big) and neither can sit in normal seats\/car seats. It’s hard on our backs to lift him up and into our passenger van, and it’s not very safe for him to lie across a bench seat either, so we’ve had to limit our family outings to essential appointments only. We need a vehicle in order to get the kids to regular therapy appointments, to church, and to other things together. \n

\nPlease feel free to share our update, pictures, or prayer requests with any supporters! We are so grateful to everyone who made the grant for our family happen. I know that it can be hard to get donations, especially in this economy, but I hope that people continue to give generously because it truly is life changing for children who are waiting to be adopted. It changes everything. We are so blessed and so grateful.\n
